Volunteers In Mission (VIM)
Volunteers In Mission
During the last two decades, the Volunteers in
Mission group at Centreville United Methodist Church has
organized groups to do God's work locally, nationally, and
abroad. Projects usually involve helping to construct or
rehabilitate homes, but teams have also assisted in disaster
relief, maintenance of our church home and parsonage in
Centreville, and in other worthwhile community related projects.
VIM trips have been as short as a few hours to as long as a
week. Funding for supplies and travel is provided through the
church Mission and raised through sponsoring Pancake
Breakfast's, Flea Markets, Rebuilding Together (Formerly
Christmas in April) and other events. The Committee usually
meets at 7:00 PM on the third Monday of each month at the church. The Chairperson of
the VIM is a volunteer and sits on the Church Council. New
members are welcome and encouraged to attend any meeting or
event.
Join us in making a better place to live for some of our
neighbors!
A few of the upcoming events and activities include:
Rebuilding Together (Formerly Christmas in April) - Saturday, April 24, 2010
Rebuilding Together is a one day blitz by volunteers in Queen
Anne's County, who renovate and repair the homes of low-income
elderly and low-income disabled homeowners, enhancing their
quality of life. The CUMC VIM Team volunteers with the local
chapter of a national, not-for-profit program. For additional
information or to sign up please contact Larisa Thomas at
