Spiritual Gifts

"For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness."

-Romans 12:3-8 (NRSV)

Every person is gifted by God. Spiritual gifts are innate - inborn orientations that transcend skills or abilities. When we understand our spiritual gifts, we understand that certain aspects of our lives are natural, normal, and easy. No one has to work hard to use his or her gifts, though each and every gift can be developed and strengthened.

For most of us, a handful of gifts will be evident at any point in our lives. In different situations, at various phases of our lives, new gifts may emerge as others recede. Spiritual gifts are from God, and God's spirit blows where it wills - what is strong in us today, may become secondary tomorrow. What remains constant is that we are gifted by God to use our gifts for the common good.

Please take a few moments to take the Spiritual Gift Assessment using the link below. It will only take a few minutes, but can help identify where your skills and talents can be used in growing God's kingdom.

Spiritual Gift Assessment

When you take the Spiritual Gift Assessment online, you should print a copy for yourself to keep and in the box at the bottom of the assessment page, fill in your name and the e-mail address should be completed with either your own e-mail address or with Contact@centreville-umc.com . If you send it to your own e-mail, please then forward the results to Jerry's e-mail address with a copy to Pastor Mark Farnell at Mark.Farnell@centreville-umc.com.

Thank you for your participation - our congregation greatly appreciates your thoughtfulness.
