Our mission is to make disciples for Jesus Christ!

Visitation

VISITATION MINISTRIES

“We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”

Psalm 100:3

CUMC Visitation Ministries reaches out to our Brothers and Sisters in Christ

by providing them with companionship, fellowship, comfort, and prayer

in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

THE FIVE “W’S” OF VISITATION

 WHO do we visit?

Our Visitation Ministries typically focus on some of the senior members of our church.  Some may spend the large majority of their time at home alone, some may have health issues that prevent them from being as active as they may like, or some may have recently lost a spouse.  Others are active members of our church who would simply like a little company from time to time.  They are each different and unique, but they have one thing in common…They all have stories to share and love nothing more company and Christian fellowship!

WHAT happens during our visits?

It’s simple…Conversations, fellowship, and laughter all “happen.”  Prayers also “happen.” And lasting friendships develop.  Visitations present us with a unique opportunity to get to know some of our amazing church members and spend quality time with them.  No televisions in the background, no cell phones ringing, just good old-fashioned fellowship.  No two conversations are ever alike, and there is never a dull moment. Visits typically last anywhere between 30 minutes to a little over an hour.

WHERE do the visits take place?

The whole concept of “visitation” is for us to come to those members who want or need our ministries. Therefore, most visits will take place at the various church members’ homes simply because that is the most convenient and comfortable setting for our members.  Or, in some cases, visits take place at local convalescent centers where of our members may temporarily or permanently reside.  The best part is that our members need not go anywhere and can enjoy our Christian fellowship in the comfort of their own homes.

WHEN do the visits take place?

Visitation is extremely flexible and takes place only when it’s convenient for the member being visited.  There are no unannounced visitations, and the member will always be contacted first to set up a visitation date and time.  Depending upon the needs of the member, visitations of some members can occur as often as every week.  Other members are visited every two weeks to monthly.

WHY should I take advantage of the Visitation Ministries Team?

Our Visitation Ministries Team at CUMC seeks to give our time, companionship, and spread Christ’s word to members of our church who desire that companionship.  How else can we better serve as disciples for Christ than to give our friendship to someone who may need it most?  Nothing is asked in return, and the rewards to both the church member being visited and the person doing the visitation are immeasurable.  As John 13:35 reminds us, “This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples – when they see the love you have for each other.”  Help us spread that love and fellowship to anyone who may need it.  It is never too late.
