Worship services are
held every Sunday at 8:45 AM, 9:45 AM
& 11:00 AM (10:00 AM Summer Hours)
Each of our three Sunday morning
programs offers unique features.
The 8:45 AM service is a Contemporary
Service held in Fellowship Hall, filled with Music,
Fellowship, Joy and The Message. Special Music is
provided by the Praise Group. The lay leader utilizes
PowerPoint Slides for the congregation to engage in the
contemporary music with the Praise Group. The Youth
Praise Team leads this service once a month. The pastor
delivers the message consistent with the liturgy.
The 9:45 AM program is our Christian
Education and Sunday School Program. These
programs are open to all age groups, from Pre-K through
Adult, with a variety of topics that bring the
participants closer to Jesus Christ through the Lords
teachings.
The 11:00 AM service is the
Traditional Service held in the Sanctuary. This
service follows the same liturgy as the 9:15 AM service.
All services include the active participation of the
laity. Music is provided by the Chancel Choir, as well
as contributions from our other Music Ministries.
The Nursery is available for Children 4 years of age and
younger, from 10:45 AM to 12:15 PM (or until the service
ends).
Seasonal Celebration
of Worship
Celebrations of worship on Christmas
Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, and Good Friday
provide additional opportunities to gather together and
remember God's grace. Centreville United Methodist
Church and Good Hope Church in Centreville also hold
joint services twice per year, with each church hosting
once.
Eucharist
Celebration
As United Methodist Christians, we
believe in a nurturing Triune God who desires a deep,
loving and ongoing relationship with His children. The
Eucharist (also called "The Lord's Supper" and "Holy
Communion") is the visible sign of the baptized
Christian's covenant with God as initiated and revealed
through Jesus Christ.
All (of any age) are invited to the
Lord's Table; the sacrament of Holy Communion is offered
the first Sunday of every month as well as during other
seasonal celebrations.
Baptism
Baptism is the sacrament of initiation
into the Body of Christ (the Church Universal). Through
this sacrament, the church recalls the sacred history of
God's faithfulness to His people through the sign of the
water: creation itself, the rivers of the Garden of
Eden, Noah and the rainbow covenant, Moses and the
miraculous division of the water, Jesus baptized in the
River Jordan, Jesus washing his disciples feet.
The sacrament of baptism is offered to
infants, children, youth and adults by appointment with
the pastor who, with the family, will select a date (we
baptize on all Sunday's except the first Sunday of the
month); after the date has been determined, the child's
family and/or the adult to be baptized will meet with
the pastor for a pre-baptism conference during which the
meaning and practice of the sacrament will be reviewed.
Joining the Church
Youth are received into membership
following the completion of Confirmation classes. Adults
are received into membership during the 11:00 AM service
on the fourth Sunday of the month, following the
completion of a three-week New Member Orientation.
Worship Hospitality
Greeters are available to welcome and
assist everyone as we gather and share in the
celebration of worship.
Ushers are prepared to assist with
special seating needs and to provide electronic hearing
devices and large print hymnals upon request. Ushers
provide additional assistance during the worship
services.
Our Altar Guild and Communion Servers
Guild are composed of lay men and women who receive
instruction as to these important worship-related
services from the Pastor and then they are assigned to
their various responsibilities.
